Papa Chops

Hi all.

This is my review about PaPa Chops at Wangsa Melawati, in front of the RHB Bank.

What I bought:
* Grilled Lamb and Chicken - RM15.90
* Spaghetti Bolognese - i forgot the price but i think it's around RM10.90-12.90

What I get and how it tastes:
* Grilled lamb, Grilled chicken, fries, a slice of tomato, a slice of cucumber, coleslaw and black pepper sauce. Lamb and chicken are really on average taste because it didn't feel juicy (maybe it has kept refrigerated for long?) but at least it doesn't taste bad. Coleslaw was also nice. Sauce is too sweet for me. Fries are good and crispy too.

* Spaghetti with bolognese sauce, but it felt like it has been stir fried together. A fried egg is served on top of the pasta, as well as tomato and cucumber like the above. Fried bun also comes together with this and it tasted really good. The spaghetti doesn't look convincing but when I tasted it, I was wrong. It's a quite decent spaghetti.

Do I want to come again?
Not in the near time being because it really tasted average.

Make-Up remover

Around 4 years ago, I have tried make up cleanser by St Ives and it was pretty okay, but still dependable on another cleanser to really wipe off the oiliness of the face. It was expensive (around RM20, if I remembered it correctly) so I took a long time to finish the tube. This was the phase when make up remover + cleanser wasn't in the trend.

I used the common Loreal make up remover for 3 years because I rarely used waterproof make up.

Biore, if I'm not mistaken, made a great entry for a cheap cleanser with make up remover somewhere last one and half years. With a little hope that this thing not gonna cause any break out on my skin, I had a small tube of it less than RM10. In my opinion after using it, it kind of hurts my eyes and the cleanser was really dry for my skin. I kept it in my office when I really need to use it.

A good friend of mine suggested me to get a water-based make up remover by Simple. It wasn't that expensive, less than RM20 for a decent bottle. It was really powerful and doesn't hurt my skin. The only fuss that I have is it will not work if you apply it using tissue. Yeap, strange as it sounds, it only works on cotton pad or something soft and thick. Else, you tend to rub rub rub till sore.

What to do when you forgot that you're wearing a waterproof make up and you need to wipe it off to take an ablution? That was the moment when I started to use Biore Make Up Remover wipes. Less than RM8, I purchased Biore brand somewhere end of last year. It is sure a fast way to remove make up but it wasn't totally gentle to my eyes and my skin. So I didn't finish it, ended up somewhere I couldn't find it anymore.

Again, I sticked to Simple Water-Based Make up Remover in my bag whenever I put on make-ups.

I have forgotten when, but I did receive a sample of make-up remover wipes somewhere mid year. Free stuff, who doesn't want it, right? Since that moment wasn't my first time of trying wipes for make-up remover, I didn't expect much.

Guess what, it was totally unexpected. So gentle, so smooth on skin and so powerful. I purchased it (the wipes in purple packaging) a week after the trial as I received a coupon in the free sample pack. Til today, I still use it but sometimes I cut it to smaller pieces because sometimes I need to wipe small areas only.

I want to purchase it again when I finished it up because it was totally worth the ease. I tested to wipe my face before sleeping, and there's no breakouts in the morning. I'm not sure whether it is only being nice to my skin, but maybe you can try.

Wong Solo

I am a fan of Ayam Penyet. Even if I am fasting rice, I would get a bit lenient when people offer me to go to Ayam Penyet. One of my favourite restaurant is Wong Solo.

Before going deeper, Ayam Penyet is fried chicken that is smashed with meat tenderizer (that looks like hammer) or something else that can make it flattened. So the meat will be easier for those who prefers to eat with spoon and fork. It usually serves with few vegetables and bean curds and most important, spicy sambal!

Wong Solo has few branches and I went to Malacca, Bandar Tasik Permaisuri, Ampang, Shah Alam and Bangi. My favourite would be either in Bangi and Bandar Tasik Permaisuri and my least favourite is in Ampang because everything is more expensive and you need to pay RM1.50 for extra sambal.

If you are really lazy to check out the menu (like me), you can order one of 5 sets with price RM10.90 without GST. Ayam bakar, Ayam Penyet, Ayam Goreng (normal fried chicken), Empal Sapi (beef) and Pecel Lele (catfish penyet). All comes with rice (a good quality), fried bean curd, few vegetables, brinjal sambal and a small 250mL mineral water. If you're ordering either ayam penyet or pecel lele, you will be given another sambal. Another thing worth to mention is that you can request either chest or leg. Means, if you order leg, you will get whole drumstick and thigh. The size depends on your luck, they usually use a medium to small one. But either way it's still good!

If you are allergic, please take note that the brinjal sambal has belacan meanwhile the penyet sambal has no belacan. A lof of my friends (including me) would order extra penyet sambal because it's tooooo good to be true. The branches have similar spicy level so I guess all comes from their own chilli farm.

I have few clearer pictures but unable to find it in my laptop. Now I feel hungry...

The Shore Malacca

Before puasa this year, I have a week off as I quit my last job and waiting to enter a new one. I took my chance to get to "the tallest building in Malacca", which is The Shore.

It is located near the River Cruise, Ocean and Putra Medical Centre. When I got there, I just want to look around and see what the stores are offering.

Sorry if the pictures are quite blur and unattractive. But I'll explain few things.

To get to this place it was quite confusing for me at first, because I use the entry behind the Putra Medical Centre. You know how Malacca streets are full of one-ways. Just look out for this building, since it's the tallest building in Malacca so you are sure able to see it.

The parking lot is actually shared with Swiss Garden Hotel and Residence building but there will be signs to help you which area are near with hotels and malls. It was free parking during my visit.

Like I told you earlier, it's near the River Cruise, so that not-so-clear water is the river. That railway track beside the rivers supposed to be for monorail/aerorail but I am not quite sure the current progress since it was built when I was in school and there were a few breakdowns and halts previously. This picture was taken from the car parks.

This board can be seen in the lifts. It's pretty much sums up of what this mall has to offer. I was actually looking for Sky Deck, but I am not able to see it.

It was not a big mall, honestly. But it has a lot of branded stores. I'm not sure which kind of visitors they are targeting, but these are definitely not the type of stores you can do some savings.

And tada! These are the main attractions of the Shore. Oceanarium and Sky Tower. Of course, you need to pay to enter and pay to take pictures. It was night and I was alone, so maybe next time I'll visit again.

I performed my Zuhur prayer here (the surau is at the car park) and I would strongly recommend to bring your own praying clothes or wear proper. The place can fit around 10-12 people prayers, I'd say.

KFC Zinger Rice Wrap

I am a sucker for fast food. No no, I am a sucker for a lot of food and that includes fast food also.

Last week I tried this new KFC Masak Merah Rice Jumbo Wrap. I googled KFC rice wrap, and it was actually not the first time. KFC Zinger Rice Wrap debuted last March and I think I missed it. That phase of the year, KFC food made me a little dizzy in my head.

Now there's no dizzy, so there's KFC. This Masak Merah Rice Wrap was called jumbo because it is really big. Bigger than AM Twister if you want to compare. The wrap is crunchy, the kind which not going to splatter all the inside, and the masak merah is really spicy and savoury, I would say. Chicken and rice is quite a lot, so no worry that it is not enough for a dinner. I had twice of this in a week and I quite like this item.

How to insert signature to PDF? (Macbook user)

Hey, y'all.

Last June I was applying another job and this new job wants me to sign a PDF. Owning a Macbook Pro, there are a lot of limitations here and there but I am quite glad that the built in Preview application can be a viewer and an editor as well. So there's no need for me to install for another application that enables me to view and edit.

To edit a PDF, open it via Preview. There's a button beside the search bar. When you hover it, it says "Show Edit Toolbar". When you click it, there are few options that you can do.

The coolest thing I discovered is I don't need to scan my signature anymore and insert it as a picture. How?  Grab a pen and a white paper. Write your signature on that paper. Then, click on the Signature button under the Edit Toolbar. Follow the instruction (which is show your written signature above the line via the webcam). They will quickly scan for it and make a transparent signature in black which you can use in your documents. :D

I am not sure about the other application or other OS version (i'm using OS 10.9!), but this helps me a lot. I hope this post helps some of you guys as well. :)

KFC Butter Garlic Crunch

On April 2015, KFC launches a new variety of their fried chicken, which is KFC Butter Garlic Crunch. The special ingredient is butter and garlic, as mentioned in the name as well.

Previously, whenever there is a special edition chicken, Hot n Spicy chickens will be temporarily unavailable until the promotion ends.

But now, both Original and Hot and Spicy chickens remains available and all special promotion chickens will be under different menu and combo like the picture below.

We have tested this twice, and the summary of our review: The garlicky crunchiness only limited to the skin part. Below the chicken's skin, there is so much oil. We are not sure if it is supposed to be the taste of the butter. I personally couldn't finish more than 1 chicken. Definitely couldn't beat the Tangy Crunch in 2014.

London Weight Management

Last Monday, an advertisement was popped out on my screen when I was surfing Yahoo! Mail. The advertisement was about Free Treatment of London Weight Management. As somebody who loves free stuff, I quickly checked and make sure it's totally free, before I signing up.

The next day, I received a text from LWM KL Festival City to confirm my interest and appointment date. I made sure first that there is no male and no cash is needed for the free treatment (who knows what else they can charge you, right?). The consultant gives only two conditions. Free for 3 hours and not on period.

So I went on Sunday, a 11 am appointment. Summary of the allocation of 3 hours:
  1. Check weight and height
  2. First consultation (Package offered, show testimonials, negotiate price if we register as a first-time user, explains what kind of free treatment we'll get afterwards)
  3. Change clothes
  4. Aroma Steam (Hot sauna for 10 minutes)
  5. Infrared Warm Blanket (Wrapped body in a warm blanket for 20 minutes)
  6. Bath time!
  7. Calculate body measurements and take pictures.
  8. Mineral salt and machine treatment (For my case, they emphasized on my stomach area)
  9. Again, calculate body measurements and take pictures.
  10. Last consultation (offer cheaper price than the first consultation)
  11. Getting travel kit
  12. Finished!
So for first stage, my weight and height are calculated. I know I am a little side to overweight, so I would expect the consultant will advice (or a little to persuade?) for me to subscribe the package. I was given 30 treatments x RM390 per treatment = RM11, 700, which I decline. They offer me 15 treatments, I declined too.

After the chit chat, the consultant gave me a panty (which only covers pubic area and butthole. LOL) and shower cap. After changing, I was off to aroma steam for 10 mins. It was really hot and a bit dark. I sweated a lot. She also gave me a cup of plain water and make sure I finished it during the hot steam session. And another wet towel which I was clueless what for.

After the Aroma Steam, go to one of the rooms that have a bed for Warm Blanket. While lying there, the consultant put something like mineral salt all over my body. After that, she wrapped me with a plastic, and then put towel over the body. Last but not least, she put something heavy warm plastic blanket on my body. So I feel trapped wrapped with all the things that made me sweat like there's no tomorrow for 20 minutes. The keyword to shout if I suffocate couldn't continue is "TOLONG", as advised by my consultant.

Upon finishing the Warm Blanket and getting out from the bed, the plastic that wrapped me has a lot of water, which the consultant claimed it's not my sweat but it's from the hidden trapped water in my body, and which I don't exactly believed because I know I sweated seriously.

The best part of the session is bath time! The shower cubicle is provided with Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower Gel. The vanity desk has combs, tissues, and hair dryer. The place is sure comfortable to clean up from all the sweating sessions.

The final session is Machine treatment. Before getting to that, the consultant measured my hips, waist, calf, arms, etc, then take pictures of my bum and tummy (yes, in that panty... hopefully they'll delete afterwards). The consultant commented on how "big" my limbs are. Not advising me to take swimming, gym ( :[ ) and other exercises as these activities can build muscles. Muscles weigh more than fat, etc, so this will affect on weight measurement. To them, having muscles are manly and having more inches on the body measurement.

For the Machine treatment session, the consultant rub a nano-tech cream on my tummy mostly, and some other parts of my body as well.

After that, the personnel will recalculate again the body weight. Then you can pack up your things and get dressed again. Before leaving the place, the consultant will try to talk to you into subscribing the service. However, whether you do or don't accept it, you will get a slimming mini kit as a souvenir.

Maxis Wireless Internet RM99 5+15GB

Last December, I moved to Sri G. I rent a master bedroom here and apparently, there's no WIFI in the new house. At first, I thought I can live without Internet as I have already data plan in both of my phones. Sadly, no.

So I checked out all the Internet Service Providers that offer something hassle-free (as I don't think I'd stay more than 2 years in this house), less than RM100 and more than 3GB.

YES is a good option because my father subscribes one of the package from YES and the Internet is fast as well. The data quota was expensive, however.

As my Lumia920 is using Maxis, I hardly feel the Internet is slow. LTE Maxis is fast, it has reached 20mbps when I was in Cyberjaya and KLCC.

Too lazy to think, I took Maxis Wireless Internet RM99 package. Check out some of the packages from them below:

Do note that 15GB is only for 2AM (and I thought 1AM..) until 8AM only. I plan to use the Non-Peak hours for torrent, downloading heavy stuff when sleeping. I also turned on WIFI for my phones for any phones updates, software updates and WhatsApp multimedia contents.

  • To get it:

Want it fast?
Go to the service centre. Take it home. But if I'm not mistaken, there's another fee that you need to pay.

Want it not-so-fast and you're not so shy?
Call them, or make them to call you (there's a form in the Maxis website. Write your name and phone number). They will explain the details and if you want to subscribe, they will read out the TnC and agree on the phone. Supposedly after you agree to subscribe, they will send to you 7-14 days after that. For my case, it took me another 3 calls to Maxis Support Centre to send me, which is 1 month late from the expected date.

Want it not-so-fast and you're too shy to talk?
Buy it online from the website. :)

  • Things that you get:

For my package, I get a DECT phone (with free 200 mins to talk to any Malaysian number) and Modem. The modem needs a power supply and it also has a port for Ethernet cable, which I haven't tested. You will find the sim card somewhere pasted on the box. Just check it out. That's your phone number for the DECT Phone.

  • Price:

Just check it out from the official Maxis website. I think in one or two year time, the price is still more and less. Just offers such as activation fee rebates or something like that will be their promotions.

  • Contract:

I have been a 2-year Maxis postpaid user and I put my Wireless Internet under the same account with my postpaid number, so I don't have any contract. If you never set up any Maxis account, then you'll get 12-month contract upon registering. The cooling period is 2 weeks once you get the device.

  • Speed:

Honestly, it is frustrating because the speed is way different than in my handphone. I need to reset the modem a lot during 7-11PM because I always get "No Internet Connection". I guess it's because the peak hours. However, it is super-fast during non-peak hours (12.30AM - 8AM).

  • Recommendation

I don't really recommend it to others because I don't want them to feel frustrated with Internet connection difficulties during peak hours, unless you have other Internet back up solutions like I do. Quite funny how my Maxis LTE in my phone is a lot faster, I use hotspot with the phone when Maxis Wireless Internet having troubles having internet connection. But both are still Maxis...

Hope this helps if you want to have more info about Maxis Wireless Internet. :)

UPDATE ON 31 OCTOBER 2015:

Starting this month, the Internet speed has improved significantly and rarely losing its connection. Thanks Maxis!

Universal Studio Singapore - 16 February 2015

My friends and I have planned to go to the Universal Studio Singapore since years ago. Luckily early this year, USS have this promotion:

RWS 5th Anniversary Promotion - Ticket price: S$56 (about RM150) and the package worth $111.
Includes:

  • Universal Studios Singapore Adult One-Day Pass at S$56 (about RM150)
  • S$10 Meal Voucher
  • S$5 Retail Voucher
  • All-day parking (worth S$28)
Of course, you have to buy it online.

To go to the USS, we didn't manage to get on the travelling agent store near Tune Hotels Danga Bay on time as the boarding time is 7.30AM and we reached there at 8.30AM.

So we went to Merlin Tower and find the 707 Travel Services bus. We managed to get the ticket for 10 AM boarding for only RM10 to-and-fro tickets, which actually way cheaper than travelling agent (RM29, if I'm not mistaken). The place is really near with Woodlands Singapore entrance. We parked at JB City Plaza. The parking rate is RM2 for 1 hour. The parking area is obviously safer than Merlin Tower.

Tips: If you want a faster immigration process, use a small bus instead. Inside the bus, the bus driver gave us the immigration card. Fill it up before entering Singapore.

There will be 2 checkpoints.
First, Malaysian exit passport checking. If you have e-Passport, just scan using the sophisticated machine. Then ride on the same bus again.

Second, this is when entering Singapore. You will give your Passport and your immigration card to the counter to stamp. Then check your bags, etc. (Make sure you don't bring explosive, pepper spray or sharp things). Then ride on the same bus again to RW Sentosa.

The journey took around 40 mins after entering Singapore. So you can have a good sleep before reaching USS.

Once you arrived the bus parking, take an escalator to upstairs, and TADAA! It's USS! To enter the studio, scan your ticket at the turnstiles and grab your map. If you have free vouchers, head to Guest Services Lounge.  USS was open from 10AM to 7PM during my visit. The opening hours depend on a lot of factors such as weathers, special occasions, etc.

There will be 7 theme parks, so it's up to you where you want to head first. There will be Waiting Time for each ride. It means how long you have to queue in order to get to the ride. Hence, longer people queuing, longer time you need to wait. Bare in mind, Waiting Time can get up to 120 minutes on weekends. So manage your time properly.

My first ride and my first ever roller coaster in my life is Enchanted Airways. Yes, I did scream like crazy even though the ride was meant for kids. This also the only attraction I get to ride twice.

To list up what attractions that I have tried:
Far Far Away
  • Enchanted Airways (The only classic roller coaster and my only ride that caused me screaming like crazy)
  • Shrek 4-D Adventure (Tips: Don't use the last zone in the back because the chairs have less movement. We assume it's for people with fragile conditions)
The Lost World
  • Water World (It's more like a theater, but you gotta watch the live actions and explosions. There will be 3 zones. No-wet zone, wet-zone, and soaking-and-splashing-zone.)
  • Canopy Flyer
  • Dino-soarin (Meant for kids, but we like this ride because there is a button to rise the seat)
  • Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure (We suggest you to bring your own raincoat because the ride will be on streams of water. If you want to buy there, it will be S$4. Drying Pods are also provided)
Ancient Egypt
  • Revenge of the Mummy (Indoor roller coaster. Highly recommended. Need to rent lockers as you can't bring any bags into it. Free rent for 45 mins)
Sci-Fi City
  • Accelerator (Nothing adventurous. Just spin until you dizzy. You can do your time-lapse video here, if you want)
  • TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle (I waited for 50 minutes for this. The 3D video is really awesome to me.)
New York
  • Lights Camera Action (Fantastic set up, you gotta witness it.)
  • Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase (This is a slow ride but it was entertaining for kids, like me :P )
Madagascar
  • King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round (my first carousel ride in my life. Waiting and preparation time is longer than the ride, by the way).
  • Madagascar Boogie. This ain't a ride, but a show. Penguins line up and dance with King Julien. How comel is that?
And that's all. There are 2 rides that are still in testing period even though it has operated previously. Maybe for stricter security purpose?

 Based on Wikipedia:

  • Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN (Steel Dueling Seated Roller Coaster)

A sit-down roller coaster that was designed for speed without inversions. The trains are modeled after the Colonial Mark II Viper used by the Human faction as seen in the Battlestar Galactica series.

  • Battlestar Galactica: CYLON (Steel Dueling Inverted Roller Coaster)

A suspended roller coaster that was designed to perform many near-misses and intense maneuvers - 5 inversions: Cobra roll, corkscrews, vertical loop, and a zero-g roll. The trains are modeled after the Cylon Heavy Raider used by the Cylon faction as seen in the Battlestar Galactica series.

We also saw another new ride that is not opened but under testing phase because the coach is operating with no people. Taken from official press:

In a giant’s castle now overgrown by a magical beanstalk, a new suspended roller coaster ride will strap guests in for a wild goose chase with Puss and his accomplice, Kitty Soft Paws. The new outdoor ride, aptly named Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey, is expected to thrill park guests as it takes flight with an original storyline. This new ride is slated for completion by end 2014, with Grand Opening details to be unveiled at a later date.

For food, USS have 5 halal cafe/restaurants and we went to Hollywood's Mel's Drive In. Milkshake is yummy for $4.90. For $12, you can choose Chilli Cheese Burger, Crispy Chicken Burger, and I don't remember the rest but they come with Cheesy Fries, I think. $10 Meal voucher really helped our wallet!

For surau, you can find the musollah near Ancient Egypt theme park. For toilet, each theme park's toilet you can find the last one is provided with water hose and spray :)

We exited the USS at 7PM and off to buy some merchandise, which I don't know when the store is closed.

If you use 707 bus, they will drop you off at JB Sentral (in front of Merlin Tower). Only one checkpoint before exiting Singapore, which is immigration clearance. Stamp stamp on the passport. Once you ride again the same bus, no body checking and bags scanning when you reach JB Sentral. You might want to park at JB Sentral, which it is hard for us to find where is the parking entrance.

I think I have come to an end of my USS review. We would be there again if all the 3 rides I mentioned above are operating. I want to ride again the mummy and transformers ride! Try to go on weekdays because I went on Mondays and popular attractions can go up to 70 mins waiting time.

That's all. Hope this helps. ^_^
